ALPHARETTA, Ga., May 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dispersive Technologies, Inc. (www.dispersivetechnologies.com) and the California Independent System Operator Corporation (www.caiso.com) today announced the introduction of Dispersive™ Virtualized Networks (Dispersive™ VNs) as an alternative for securing telemetry throughout the ISO's service area.
Dispersive Technologies offers software-defined networking (SDN) solutions that dramatically improve network security, session-level performance and reliability.
The California ISO manages the flow of electricity across the high-voltage, long-distance power lines that make up 80 percent of California's (and a small part of Nevada's) power grid. This nonprofit, public-benefit corporation safeguards the economy and well-being of 30 million consumers by operating an open and competitive transmission network and wholesale energy market. The ISO has purchased and is now deploying a Dispersive™ VN solution, which it will make available to its market participants.
"Electricity markets continue on a path toward regionalization, unlocking the potential for expanding resource flexibility, transmission capabilities, and clean energy," said Steve Berberich, president and CEO of the ISO. "To realize this potential, industry expansion must be both nimble and secure. Current methods of securing telemetry lack scalability and are relatively costly to implement or are incomplete. We are pleased to be implementing this new technology to better secure our networks and improve performance."
"The California ISO is a global leader in power grid management and is at the forefront of the movement towards distributed power generation and smart grids," said Robert W. Twitchell, Jr., president and CEO of Dispersive Technologies. "We are excited and honored to be working with this forward-thinking team to bring Dispersive™ VNs to this segment of the critical infrastructure market."
