California Hosts International Forum on Disability Management

Global Experts to Gather in Los Angeles for the Only Event of its Kind

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This year's International Forum on Disability Management (IFDM) 2010:  Collaborating for Success will provide an opportunity for the health, safety, workers' compensation and disability management communities to share knowledge and evaluate comprehensive disability management initiatives.  Hundreds of delegates from more than 30 countries will attend the forum on September 20-22, in Los Angeles.  

This is the first time the event will be held in the United States. It will be hosted by the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and the California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation, in collaboration with the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions.

"Hosting this event gives California the opportunity to lead the international community in efforts to ensure successful disability management," said DIR Director John C. Duncan. "This forum provides a unique opportunity for experts from around the world to learn from each other.  We all share common goals -- to help those living with disabilities remain a productive part of the workforce, to better provide injured employees with the medical care they need and to build a stronger economy by fostering productive and stable workforces.  This forum will help us reach those goals."

• Dr. Susan Daniels, former Deputy Commissioner at the U.S. Social Security Administration
