Calculated Industries Becomes North American Master Distributor of SmartWedge Products
CARSON CITY, Nev., April 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Calculated Industries has announced that it is now the exclusive North American Master Distributor for SmartWedge plastic shims, the innovative, practically indestructible, 100 percent plastic shims that can be used for installing doors and windows, framing, deck building and more.
Reliable and easy to use, these shims have been popular in European housing construction for over 40 years. SmartWedge shims are made from durable polyethylene plastic, so they are immune to damp and, unlike wood shims, they won't swell, compress or decay. Plus, they will not split, even when they are fastened by nails or screws.
SmartWedge Shims come in several styles, shapes and sizes for different applications.
- SmartWedge Shims
The original SmartWedge is 8 inches long and 1 5/8 inches wide and consists of two attached shims, so they can be snapped apart and used as two quarter-inch shims. The teeth on their faces interlock to hold them securely at the thickness you set, preventing creepage. Projecting ends are easily trimmed or cut with a utility knife or saw. There are several other SmartWedge shims available in a wide range of widths, lengths and colors.
- Flat Shims
These non-tapered shims are flat and have no interlocking teeth. They are ideal for installing windows, doors, floors, toilets, counter, tables and bookcases.
- Balance Shims
Also called Hanger Shims, these shims come in six different colors and thicknesses from 1/32 to 3/8 inches. Balance Shims can hang freely from a nail and they will remain perfectly level, making them ideal for framing applications or installing window and doors.
- SmartBlocks
These blocks are two inches wide and three inches long, and they come in four thicknesses from 1/16 inch to 3/4 inch so the user can "build" the block to the needed thickness. They have a load capacity of 11,000 pounds.
- Combi Max
Combi Max is a flexible system of different shapes and sizes that can be used for blocking up floors and decking. Very useful where pipes and vents are installed beneath flooring.
For more information or to purchase SmartWedge Shims and Blocks go to www.calculated.com/smartwedge or local building supply stores and lumber yards. The shims are sold both in small and large quantities. Large quantities of multiple shims come in Trans Packs, which include a rugged, reusable carrying case.
