Calabash Elks to Start Domestic Violence Shelter Improvements and Assistance to Victims

CHICAGO, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With some help from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Calabash Elks will renovate the kitchen/living room area of a local Domestic Violence shelter, host quarterly meals at the shelter, and hold a Christmas party for the residents. They will also hold fundraisers and raise awareness.

Domestic Violence Shelter Improvements and Assistance to Victims will be funded by an Impact Grant awarded to the Calabash Elks by the Elks National Foundation. Impact Grants are the newest addition to the Elks National Foundation's Community Investments Program. They are competitive grants designed to help Elks make a difference in their community. This year, Calabash Elks Lodge No. 2679 is one of 49 recipients nationwide to receive an Impact Grant. The grants range from $2,500 to $10,000.
