LAS VEGAS, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ:CZR), the world's most diversified casino-entertainment provider, announced today that it continues to lead the gaming-entertainment industry, achieving a perfect score of 100 and earning the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the twelfth year in a row. CEI is a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.
"Now more than ever, it's important for corporations to defend and value human rights. Caesars Entertainment draws on its historic leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion to continue to serve and empower LGBTQ team members, guests and suppliers," said Jan Jones Blackhurst, Executive Vice President, Public Policy & Corporate Responsibility at Caesars Entertainment. "This recognition by the Human Rights Campaign is a reflection of our collective commitment and pledge to champion the rights of every person."
In August 2018, Caesars announced new domestic partner benefits for both same- and opposite-sex partners. Benefits include medical, dental and vision plan options, short and long-term disability, life insurance and a selection of other voluntary benefits.
Caesars has long been a leader in the defense of human rights; it was the first hospitality and gaming company to establish an LGBTQ diverse employee group more than a decade ago. It was also first in its industry to provide protections to transgender guests and employees, and to train employees on policies relating to transgender employees and guests. Caesars supports LGBTQ-certified businesses through the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce as part of its overall commitment to women-, minority- and veteran-owned businesses. Caesars also joined with HRC and other corporations to re-introduce the Equality Act, legislation that guarantees protection for LGBTQ people under existing civil rights laws.
The 2019 CEI report evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Caesars' efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a priority of PEOPLE PLANET PLAY, Caesars Entertainment's corporate responsibility framework. Acknowledged under the PLAY focus, Caesars celebrates what makes the company unique and is committed to creating a leading program through five pillars: supplier and contracting diversity; workforce and workplace; community reinvestment, marketing; branding and sales; and public policy and thought leadership.
