The Strike Force will focus on counseling and defending health care systems, life sciences companies and providers faced with False Claims Act and other fraud and abuse investigations and lawsuits. Brian McGovern (New York) along with Adam Lurie (Washington, D.C.) and Anne Tompkins (Charlotte), Partners in the Firm's Health Care, Litigation, and White Collar Defense and Investigations practice groups, is leading the new group, which also includes a number of other attorneys across those locations and practices.
"With regulatory scrutiny across the health care industry likely to continue, and probably increase, we believe it is critical at this juncture to marshal Cadwalader's considerable talents in the health care and white collar defense space," McGovern said. "We actively represent health care clients in responding to False Claims Act investigations and billing inquiries by various federal and state agencies, as well as provide advice on all manner of regulatory compliance. With this initiative, we are bringing together seasoned litigators in the Firm's decades-long health care practice with several former U.S. Attorneys and federal prosecutors who have deep experience in health care in order to even better serve our health care clients with a cohesive team of lawyers. Members of the Strike Force will work in close collaboration with each other, and with our clients, in understanding each client's needs and goals and in formulating effective and efficient strategies to achieve the best outcome."
