Cadwalader Adds Top Washington Attorney to Business Fraud and Complex Litigation Group
WASHINGTON, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, today announced that Kenneth L. Wainstein, a high profile government and litigation attorney has joined the Washington office as Partner in the firm's Business Fraud and Complex Litigation Department.
Kenneth L. Wainstein, joins Cadwalader from O'Melveny & Myers LLP where he was a member of the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice. Prior to joining O'Melveny, Mr. Wainstein held a series of senior positions in the government. He was nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate as the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, the chief law enforcement officer in the District. He was then confirmed again as the first Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the Justice Department. Mr. Wainstein thereafter served as Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism (the Homeland Security Adviser), reporting directly to the President of the United States. In those roles, he worked closely with the leadership of all the national security and law enforcement agencies. Mr. Wainstein also previously served as General Counsel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and as Chief of Staff to FBI Director Robert Mueller. Mr. Wainstein spent the first twelve years of his career in the Justice Department as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorneys' Offices in the Southern District of New York and then in the District of Columbia.
