Cadence Health's Delnor Hospital Achieves Prestigious Magnet® Recognition
Geneva Hospital Achieves Four-Year Honor for Third Consecutive Time
GENEVA, Ill., Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cadence Health's Delnor Hospital has been named once again to the Magnet Recognition Program® by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in recognition of the hospital's quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practices.
"The Magnet program is a great recognition of our nurses and clinical team," said Robert Friedberg, President, Delnor Hospital. "This is the third time in a row that Delnor has been recognized for the Magnet program and the continued recognition speaks to our consistent success in delivering high-quality care and meeting the healthcare needs of our community."
Delnor was the first non-academic hospital in the state to achieve Magnet recognition and is one of 33 Illinois hospitals with this recognition. Nationwide, only 391 of the more than 6,000 U.S. healthcare organizations have received the Magnet credential. The Magnet program is a quadrennial review conducted by the ANCC, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association.
"Magnet recognition is a tremendous honor and reflects our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care to our patients," said Lore Bogolin, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services, Delnor Hospital. "This achievement underscores the strong foundation of nursing excellence and the value-driven care our staff provides, each and every day."
Among the specific benefits to hospitals and their communities of Magnet recognition:
- Higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, availability of help, and receipt of discharge information;
- Lower risk of 30-day mortality and lower failure to rescue;
- Higher job satisfaction among nurses;
- Lower nurse reports of intentions to leave position.
Magnet recognition is one of the criteria used by U.S. News & World Report in its assessment of the nation's hospitals for its ranking of best medical centers in 16 specialties. Delnor was recently named by U.S. News as one of the 'Best Hospitals' in Chicago and Illinois.
