CABOT, Vt., Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- This November, Cabot Creamery Cooperative, the farm family owned dairy cooperative widely known as the makers of the "World's Best Cheddar," will reward one lucky volunteer with an all-expense-paid Eastern Caribbean Cruise for two as part of the Reward Volunteers program.
The Reward Volunteers iPhone App and web widget from Cabot Creamery Cooperative enables individuals and organizations to track the time they spend volunteering in their communities, post to Facebook, and earn rewards for themselves and the organizations they serve. At the end of each month, Cabot rewards volunteers for their hard work, and for inspiring friends and family to do the same, with a variety of prizes. The more hours volunteers log, the more chances to win. Participation is absolutely free, and more information is available at www.rewardvolunteers.coop.
"Each month, we give away a variety of great prizes to Reward Volunteers users," says Ed Townley, Chief Operating Officer of Agri-Mark, the parent company of Cabot. "The prizes include cash for non-profit organizations, gift cards, farm vacations, gift baskets, and of course, Cabot cheddar. In November, we'll be giving away one of the biggest prizes of all, a seven-night, all-expense-paid cruise to the Caribbean, which will set sail in November of 2015."
The selection process for Rewards Volunteers prizes is random, but the more volunteer hours a user logs and the more they share their volunteer activity with their friends on Facebook, the more chances they have of winning.
"Our Reward Volunteers cruise winner and a guest will join other volunteers including honorees selected by Points of Light and AARP Create The Good from around the country as part of Cabot's Community Celebrity Award Cruise," says Dr. Richard Stammer, Cabot President and CEO. "The Community Celebrity Award program was created in 2010, and is presented to volunteers from across the country who have made a difference in their community. We spotlight those dedicated to serving others, and reward them with the trip of a lifetime."
Reward Volunteers launched in February of 2012. Since then, the program has grown every month, and given away thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to deserving volunteers and volunteer organizations. Reward Volunteers 5.0, the fifth iteration of the revolutionary iPhone app and web widget, has already seen more than 5,500 acts of kindness, generosity, and community support - totaling more than 28,000 hours - logged by individuals in service of non-profit organizations across the country.
One of this month's Reward Volunteers winners is Arianna Cooper, a volunteer at the Good Knight Castle Child Empowerment Network in Beltsville, Maryland. "I am 17 years old, and have been volunteering since I was very little. I learned from an early age that volunteering is a very important way to give back to the community. I have been working for a non-profit organization called the Good Knight Castle Child Empowerment Network. Our mission is to teach children of all ages the tricks strangers use to harm children. This is a very important message to me because I have met many people throughout my life that have been through horrible situations that could have been prevented if they had seen the video our charity created."
The prize list has grown for Reward Volunteers 5.0, and includes:
- $8,000 in cash prizes for non-profit organizations
- Farm vacations to Liberty Hill Farm, Sprout Creek Farm, Emergo Farm, Escobars Inn, Couture's Bed & Breakfast, Mountain View Inn
