CABOT, Vt., April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- April is National Grilled Cheese Month, and what better way to celebrate than by sponsoring a huge grilled cheese contest featuring approximately 150 competitors battling to find out whose sandwich reigns supreme. That is exactly what Cabot® Creamery Cooperative - widely known as makers of "The World's Best Cheddar," - has done, reprising their role for the second straight year as the exclusive cheese sponsor of the Grilled Cheese Invitational, which will be held on April 20, 2013 at the Los Angeles Center Studios.

Cheese lovers are encouraged to stop by the Cabot "Cheddar Sampling" Tent, where they'll be served samples of Cabot's delicious cheddars, along with piping hot grilled cheese sandwiches. World-famous kitchen appliance manufacturer Breville® is joining Cabot at the event and a team of local chefs will be conducting cooking demos featuring Breville's "the Original" sandwich makers made with premium Cabot Cheddars that are available at all Los Angeles-area Costco stores. The chefs will be using world-famous La Brea Bakery® breads that will also be used throughout Cabot's entire sampling area. Attendees can also visit the Cabot Photo Barn to snap a picture with Cabot's "virtual" Holstein Cows visiting from Vermont – all free! Also joining in the cheesy fun will be a group of gifted children from the non-profit youth center, A Place Called Home (APCH). The youngsters will be assisting Cabot team members as student chefs and will assist in the preparation of grilled cheese sandwiches and cheese sampling.
Indeed, Cabot knows a little bit about competing in the cheese world. The cooperative has won virtually every major award for best tasting cheddar and has captured numerous "World's Best" cheddar titles in national and international competitions including the World Championship Cheese Contest, World Cheese Awards, US Championship Cheese Contest, and the American Cheese Society. The Grilled Cheese Invitational started in 2003 as a friendly bet between Founder Tim Walker and a group of his closest friends, and has grown into a national movement dedicated to perfecting the art of grilled cheese.
