Cabot® Creamery Cooperative Farmers Trade in Tractors for Taxis at the Second-Ever Farmers' Gratitude Tour
100 farmers visit New York to personally thank Cabot consumers
CABOT, Vt., March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, farm families who own the Cabot Creamery Cooperative are bound for New York City in plaid buses to express their gratitude to local consumers for buying Cabot cheese and the farmers' other fine dairy products.
On behalf of the 1,200 New England and upstate New York farm families who own the Northeast's premier dairy cooperative, 100 farmers will don their iconic red plaid jackets and sample cheese among consumers tomorrow, Friday, March 11, and Saturday, March 12, for the second-ever Farmers' Gratitude Tour.
Farmers will be handing out cheese and premiums as their way of saying "thank you for your support." Store locations include Fairway Markets, Whole Foods Markets, Zabar's, Stop & Shops, ShopRites, among others. Be sure to visit the Farmers' Gratitude Tour website for a map of all participating stores.
"To the farmers and collective owners of Cabot Creamery, every purchase of our products matters," said Beth Kennett of Liberty Hill Farm in Rochester, Vermont. "When people buy Cabot it allows us to keep farming. It allows the next generation of farmers to take over the family business and continue to deliver high-quality milk to the creamery. We are extremely grateful anytime somebody buys our award-winning products."
This is only the second time that Cabot farmers will travel from their upstate New York and New England farms to thank New Yorkers personally. In November of 2013, Cabot farmers also took to the streets of New York City and were warmly welcomed.
Farmers' Gratitude Tour Highlights for 2016:
- Plaid buses to transport farmers and staff to stores.
- Farmers will be at 38 stores each day throughout New York City, Brooklyn, Westchester and New Jersey giving out samples and coupons to customers.
- A special squad of farmers will be on-hand for events staged to celebrate and bring attention to the company's B Corps, cooperative and other local partners.
- Random Acts of Cheddar will be staged at firehouses, police stations and nonprofit organizations with gifts of cheddar delivered by Cabot farmers.
