The program enables individuals and organizations to track the time they spend volunteering in their communities via a free computer widget and easy-to-use iPhone mobile app. At the end of each month, Cabot rewards them for their hard work with a variety of prizes, including cash, vacations, gift baskets, and more.
Reward Volunteers 3.0, now in its third phase, kicked off on January 28, 2013 and has already awarded hundreds of amazing prizes to hard-working, selfless volunteers across the country. On July 14, Cabot will be announcing the Grand Prize winners, one of whom will join dozens of other volunteers aboard the Cabot Community Celebrity Cruise. They, along with a guest, will be treated to an all-expenses-paid, six-day, seven-night, Southern Caribbean cruise aboard the Celebrity Cruise SUMMIT.
"The third phase of Reward Volunteers has been a blast," says Cabot Director of Marketing & Integrated Services, Jen Neary. "For the past five months, Reward Volunteers users have been inspiring many of their Facebook friends to get involved by logging their hours through the iPhone app and web widget. We still have two weeks to go before we announce the Grand Prize winners, and the participants have already logged more than 28,000 hours benefiting nearly 800 non-profit organizations.
"Reward Volunteers is easy and intuitive to use," continues Neary. "Participants download the Reward Volunteers iPhone app or use the web widget to log activity and encourage friends to get involved by sharing on Facebook or via email. Participants are also able to take pictures using the iPhone app and share them on Facebook. The more hours users log for the organizations of their choice, the more Reach points they'll earn, which equals more opportunities for them and the organizations they serve to win cash and prizes. They can also earn Reach points by sharing their activity on Facebook or via email. The more 'likes' and comments their posts receive, the more Reach points they earn."
Prizes are awarded each month, from February through June, with Grand Prizes being awarded in July. The list of amazing prizes include: cash for individuals and organizations; Liberty Hill Farm vacations; King Arthur Flour gift cards; National Cooperative Grocers Association gift cards; Keurig Coffee Machines with a year supply of Green Mountain Coffee; Cabot Cheddar Gift Baskets; Farm Family Gift Baskets; shoes from Dansko; and much more. Grand Prize Winners will receive big cash prizes, super-sized Cabot Farm Family Gift Baskets, Vermont Ski Passes, and fabulous vacation packages to Liberty Hill Farm, Emergo Farms, Couture Farm, Smugglers Notch, Mountain View Inn, and Escobar's Inn. "I am so looking forward to spending time in Vermont at Liberty Farm," says Ann Healy, a volunteer at Our Sisters' School in Massachusetts, and the winner of a Liberty Hill Farm Vacation. "Thank you, Cabot, for recognizing volunteers - I wish everyone would find a volunteer opportunity that they enjoy as much as I enjoy serving at Our Sister's School in New Bedford."
"Wow, thanks so much," says Bill Carroll, another one of this month's prizewinners and a volunteer at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. "I'm very humbled by this. I absolutely love what I do and will continue to do what I do best. Thanks again for this perfect recognition!"
Reward Volunteers was conceived and created by Cabot Creamery Cooperative, and is sponsored by AARP Create the Good, All for Good, Marriott, Co+op Stronger Together, Hope for Women, Points of Light, Full Circle, and Volunteer Spot.
