Cablevision Bronx Employees Resoundingly Reject CWA Union
Cablevision Field Service and Audit Technicians Say No to CWA's Campaign of Misinformation and False Promises
BETHPAGE, N.Y., June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cablevision Systems Corporation's (NYSE: CVC) Bronx Field Service and Audit Technicians voted resoundingly to reject joining the Communications Workers of America (CWA) in an election held today. Employees voted 74 percent to 26 percent – nearly a three-to-one margin - against joining the CWA.
Cablevision issued the following statement:
"Cablevision employees have spoken loudly and clearly that they value their direct relationship with the company, especially in this period of change, growth and dynamic opportunity. Our Bronx employees gave this matter careful consideration and independently and overwhelmingly rejected the CWA's campaign of misinformation and false promises."
The defeat marked the second blow within 24 hours to the CWA. Late yesterday, one day before a separate election and fearing defeat, the CWA abandoned its attempt to represent Cablevision's Outside Plant employees in the Bronx.
