WHY: |
Employers added a record 304,000 jobs in January and wages and salaries rose by more than three percent over the past year. U.S. industrial production saw the biggest increase in manufacturing in ten months and businesses are optimistic about the long-term economic outlook with plans to hire more workers.
In Ohio, nearly 945,000 small businesses employ 2.2 million people or 46 percent of the private workforce and they are vital to the state's economic development and prosperity. SBA Administrator McMahon has met with more than 800 small business owners across the nation in her efforts to listen, drive economic growth, and educate Americans about the SBA and its programs to help entrepreneurs start, grow, expand and recover after a disaster. Her agency leadership has contributed to implementing reforms, removing red tape and lessening the tax burdens for small businesses and their employees alike. |
