ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at SHARE's bi-annual user conference for enterprise technology professionals, CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) announced an agreement with INNOVATION Data Processing, a leading Linux storage management company, to include the company's UPSTREAM for Linux on Z and UPSTREAM for z/OS UNIX in its Linux on System z management offering.
INNOVATION Data Processing's products provide comprehensive, easy-to-use data protection for Linux on System z and z/OS UNIX environments, helping storage administrators to save time in managing the backup, recovery and restoration of critical business information.
"Data protection is a key area in which our customers need Linux management tools," said Dayton Semerjian, general manager, Mainframe, CA Technologies. "We are offering powerful storage management solutions from INNOVATION to help them simplify operations and fully leverage the cost savings potential of Linux."
UPSTREAM also helps lower total cost of ownership by leveraging existing z/OS systems and resources for Linux storage management. With a choice of traditional mainframe and GUI browser interfaces, UPSTREAM for Linux on Z helps save time by greatly simplifying and automating data protection, and providing storage administrators with a high degree of flexibility and reliability in backup/restore and storage management.
UPSTREAM for z/OS UNIX allows z/OS storage managers to use their mainframe expertise to centrally manage storage in hybrid mainframe and distributed environments. It provides ad hoc and automated, unattended backup/restore, file transfer and storage management operations, allowing IT to leverage the strengths of z/OS UNIX to manage Web serving, WebSphere, Lotus Domino and other e-business applications.
"Reliable data protection for mainframe Linux and UNIX applications is among the top concerns of business users," said Thomas J. Meehan, vice president, Advance Technology, INNOVATION Data Processing. "Partnering with CA Technologies—a company that offers the broadest spectrum of some of the most popular and easy to use mainframe software solutions available today—is a significant step towards broadening the market reach of our enterprise data protection technology, and adds important capabilities that will enable customers to more comfortably, efficiently and effectively improve business resiliency."
UPSTREAM for Linux on Z and UPSTREAM for z/OS UNIX will be available from CA Technologies in the fall.
