ISLANDIA, N.Y., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- CA Technologies (Nasdaq: CA) today announced that it has been ranked among the top 50 greenest companies in the U.S. by Newsweek magazine.
The Newsweek Green Rankings grade the 500 largest publically traded U.S. companies on their environmental impact, strategy, policy, management, reputation and overall performance as environmentally responsible companies. The complete list can be found at www.newsweek.com/green.
"We are honored to be among the top 50 of the Newsweek Green Rankings," said Cynthia Curtis, head of Sustainability at CA Technologies. "Over the last two years, we have accelerated our sustainability activities by streamlining our business operations, lowering our environmental impact and saving costs. This recognition is a testament of our commitment to be a responsible corporate citizen and we will continue to look at ways to advance our sustainability efforts."
The companies are ranked based on a number of criteria, including: greenhouse gas emissions, toxic waste emissions and use of other natural resources, as well as companies' disclosure of those impacts. Newsweek and its partners also assessed the companies' management of environmental issues and policies, regulatory compliance and policies concerning climate change. The rankings also factor in the results of an exclusive reputational survey of CEOs, corporate social responsibility officers, and "sector specialists."
To compile the Green Rankings, Newsweek collaborated with three of the leading environmental research experts: MSCI ESG Research, Trucost and CorporateRegister.com. Newsweek also assembled an expert panel to appraise the Newsweek Green Ranking methodology and review the preliminary and final list.
To help meet its environmental goals, CA Technologies utilizes its own innovative solution – CA ecoSoftware, – for tracking, managing and reporting on its sustainability program.
