ISLANDIA, N.Y., April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced May Mainframe Madness (MMM) 2011, a month-long virtual tradeshow designed to help IT professionals discover new ways to leverage mainframes to meet key business challenges.
Leveraging cloud technology to deliver educational presentations, the event offers networking on a wide range of topics with subject matter experts, including CA Technologies staff, analysts and customers.
The second virtual MMM event reflects CA Technologies continued commitment to providing leadership and innovation to the Mainframe ecosystem, and features a special guest keynote from Apollo 12 astronaut, Captain Alan Bean. MMM also showcases more than 150 educational sessions and demos, virtual booths, online chat sessions and blogs on CA Technologies Mainframe Community site, as well as a networking lounge.
Last year's event attracted tens of thousands of online visitors and won a "Virtual Event Excellence Award" for innovation from the Social Media Academy, a leading social media research institute, and ON24, a prominent cloud service event provider.
"Virtual events are gaining in popularity as companies look to reduce travel budgets to contain costs," said Axel Schultze, Founder and President for the Social Media Academy. "With over 35,000 attendee visits, averaging an unprecedented 3.5 hours per visit, MMM sets new industry standards for attendee interest and interaction, with additional live content being added throughout the event."
MMM 2011 will offer content contributed by CA Technologies and leading industry experts, including Jon Toigo, Joe Clabby, Marco Coulter, Barry Nance, Craig Mullins and Mark Lillycrop. Keynote presenter Bean is a distinguished NASA astronaut with an impressive list of accomplishments, including piloting the Apollo 12 lunar landing module, walking on the moon, and commanding the most successful Skylab mission to date.
"IT organizations don't want to lose the value of education and networking. MMM helps them find ways to contain costs, sustain skills and increase agility, without the investment in travel," said Dayton Semerjian, general manager, Mainframe, CA Technologies. "We provide the platform for attendees to benefit from this type of valuable interaction, while not expending their travel budgets."
