ISLANDIA, N.Y., Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CA Technologies today announced that its CA SiteMinder® Web access management solution is now an SAP-endorsed business solution. CA SiteMinder complements the security features in the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform by controlling user access to SAP® applications and helping securely deliver essential information to millions of employees, partners, suppliers and customers.
CA SiteMinder gives customers the ability to manage user authentication and authorization for critical Web applications, including SAP business applications. By centralizing the management of these key services, security silos that typically create increased security risks and high administration costs can be eliminated. In addition, customers have a comprehensive report of user access, simplifying compliance audits. CA SiteMinder also provides Web single sign-on across the IT environment to help simplify user access and reduce IT administration costs.
"Moving applications online and into the cloud brings significant advantages, but it also invites security risks that CA SiteMinder helps manage," said Mike Denning, general manager, Security, CA Technologies. "SAP's endorsement of CA SiteMinder underscores the value our solution provides and how it helps control who can access Web and portal applications."
As part of the agreement between CA Technologies and SAP, the companies will use the same support system for joint customers. To handle incidents logged by those customers, CA Technologies support staff and SAP support staff will use the SAP global support backbone to deliver a collaborative, agile and transparent support structure.
This endorsement stems from several successful years of SAP and CA Technologies collaboration. CA SiteMinder, now endorsed by SAP, was previously certified as "Powered by SAP NetWeaver" technology platform.
"Collaborating with partners like CA Technologies is key to the SAP ecosystem strategy to provide additional choices and flexibility to our customers, including a secure, robust and comprehensive business application environment," said Sanjay Katyal, vice president, Business Development and Strategic Alliances, Global Ecosystem & Channels, SAP AG. "Businesses are demanding a seamless and secure user experience on-premise, on-demand and on-device. We believe that CA SiteMinder can deliver an added level of security across these environments, complementary to SAP strategy for identity and access management."
Solutions endorsed by SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) are complementary to SAP software offerings, developed in accordance with SAP development guidelines, and provide additional choices and flexibility for businesses running SAP applications.
CA Technologies and SAP have a track record of successful cooperation, including support of SAP NetWeaver via CA SiteMinder and CA APM (Application Performance Management, CA Wily Introscope®) solutions and integration of several CA Technologies IT management and security solutions with GRC solutions from the SAP BusinessObjects™ portfolio.
