SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- New this year at the Fifth Annual Coastal Discovery & Stewardship Celebration January 13-February 28, 2018: Mind Walks Lecture Series from the Central Coast State Park Association. This new series features local experts who share their knowledge on topics of interest to visitors and residents of the Central Coast that include cultural history, natural history, and current issues. The Mind Walks Lectures are part of almost 40 Coastal Discovery and award-winning Stewardship Travel activities, tours and adventures organized by several local non-profits including California State Parks and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary for this six-week celebration, including a Free Stewardship Travel Film Festival at Hearst Castle Theater and the Fourth Annual BlendFest wine tasting event produced by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. Produced by the CA Highway 1 Discovery Route, the annual Coastal Discovery & Stewardship Celebration is the perfect time to visit the central coast when crowds and traffic are light and lodging opportunities abound at off season rates.

As the producer of this award-winning Stewardship Travel Program, the CA Highway 1 Discovery Route also created a set of Wildlife Viewing and Stewardship Tips to help guide visitors on their experiences. Additionally, the CA Highway 1 Discovery Routes partnered with The Whale Trail , a nonprofit organization in partnership with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration fisheries, National Marine Sanctuaries (West Coast region), and other national marine conservation organizations, to support their shared mission to inspire appreciation and stewardship for the marine environment.
