The Stephens have made the most of those life-changing events in 2008. They went on to open B&T Marine, formerly Brett's Marine Service. They have now added U-Haul to their product line.

B&T Marine services all types of water equipment and toys, and now they service RVs and classic cars as well. Brandi said the idea of partnering with U-Haul came from a family friend who was a U-Haul neighborhood dealer.

"It's a beautiful thing," Brandi said. "(U-Haul) catches people's attention."

Once the Stephens' Texas home was declared unlivable after Ike, their decision to reside closer to family in Florida was an easy call. The Stephens had serviced marine equipment in Texas so they were well prepared to start B&T Marine. They just needed the new facility.

B&T Marine is in close proximity to Tallahassee, and the Stephens hope to draw business from Florida State University students who seek U-Haul trailers and trucks for moves at the beginning and end of semesters.

"We are very excited to meet everybody and see what comes next," Brandi said.
