MCLEAN, Va., May 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As the three day Memorial Day holiday weekend approaches, domestic automakers look to capitalize on extra consumer shopping time with attractive incentive and finance offers. According to analysts at NADA Used Car Guide, the most advantageous deals can be had if consumers are trading in an SUV or truck (the two segments have held value better than cars the last several quarters). When positive equity from a truck or SUV is combined with low interest rate financing and lofty manufacturer-based incentives, the long weekend may be one of the thriftiest times of the year to buy a new vehicle.
As far as deals go, NADA Used Car Guide analysts picked several competitive offers from Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford.
Chevrolet – The bow tie brand is offering aggressive deals on some of its most popular small and mid-size SUVs. The 2016 Equinox LT FWD ($2,750 cash allowance), 2016 Trax LT FWD ($2,500 cash allowance), and 2016 Traverse LT FWD ($1,750 cash allowance) position nicely against their import competition.
If an open cargo area fits the bill, Chevrolet is also advertising a total of $9,000 off its 2016 Silverado 1500 Double Cab LT All Star 4WD truck. The $9,000 discount is the sum of a $3,000 cash allowance, a $2,750 reduction in MSRP, an additional $2,500 bonus tag cash allowance, and a $750 option package discount. If shoppers currently own or lease a Ford F-Series truck, they qualify for another $1,000 off, possibly saving $10,000 off MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price).
Dodge – The Fiat Chrysler-owned brand is offering zero-percent financing on many of its models — a great start toward saving as free money is always nice. The most competitive offer advertised by the brand will get shoppers up to $3,750 off compact 2016 Dart SXTs. Some other notable deals from Dodge include up to $2,500 off 2016 Challenger muscle cars and up to $2,000 off Charger sedans.
Ford – Similar to Dodge, Ford Motor Company offers zero-percent financing for up to 60 months on many of its models, including the Focus, Fusion, Escape, Explorer, Edge and F-150. Buyers of the compact Focus, mid-size Fusion and Escape CUV will also receive $1,000 bonus cash, plus a $1,000 Ford smart bonus. Purchasers of the popular Explorer SUV and Edge crossover receive only the $1,000 Ford smart bonus.
The Blue Oval has decided to pack on buying options to its F-150 XLT SuperCab 4x4 2.7L V6 EcoBoost (with Luxury Chrome or Sport Package). Buyers can choose between zero-percent financing or $9,950 in total savings, plus $500 in Ford Credit bonus cash.
