Butte-Silver Bow Launches Smart911 to Deliver Enhanced Emergency Response to Area Citizens

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. and BUTTE-SILVER BOW, Mont., Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Citizens in the Montana county of Butte-Silver Bow can breathe a little easier today knowing that their local 9-1-1 and response agencies have a new tool to help during emergencies. The county has launched the national Smart911 network, allowing citizens to create a free online Safety Profile with critical data on their household they want 9-1-1 to have during emergencies. Once created, when a citizen places a 9-1-1 call their profile is automatically displayed to 9-1-1, enabling emergency teams to have a better understanding of the situation and respond to the right location with the right personnel and the right equipment.

Butte-Silver Bow joins Missoula County in providing Montana citizens with access to the rapidly growing Smart911 service, which is now helping citizens and emergency responders across 23 states. The Butte-Silver Bow 9-1-1 Center receives approximately 30,000 calls for service annually, dispatching Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services.

Each Smart911 Safety Profile is private, secure and only available to dispatchers during an emergency call. It can include home or work addresses associated with mobile phone numbers, details of medical conditions and disabilities, photos of family members, floor plans and other rescue information. Smart911 is a national service, as a result, anytime a citizen dials 9-1-1 across the country and their call is answered by a local Smart911 supported center, their profile will be available. This brings additional peace of mind to Butte Butte-Silver Bow and Missoula residents who travel throughout the state or visit other areas of the country.
