Business Workforce Productivity and IT Efficiency Top Priorities for 2010
Survey shows 50% jump in use of capacity management practices to address priorities
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- TeamQuest published a study that shows organizations are implementing capacity management practices to increase workforce productivity and IT efficiency, top priorities in 2010.
"As organizations continue to consolidate and virtualize their environments, IT decision makers said capacity management practices support those efforts and make IT more efficient," said Director of Product Management Scott Adams. The number of companies incorporating capacity management processes increased nearly 50 percent from the Q4 2008 report.
The consequences of consolidating and virtualizing servers without understanding application demand and resource requirements translate into performance issues that cost time, money and productivity, according to a commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of TeamQuest "Strategies to Improve IT Efficiency in 2010" (April 2010).
Key findings from the study:
- Business workforce productivity and IT efficiency are priorities in 2010.
- Infrastructure consolidation is seen as a means to achieve these goals.
- Consolidation needs a strong predictive process.
"Efficiency is about saving money without sacrificing service. That's exactly what capacity management practices offer," said Adams. "It's smart strategy in all economic conditions, and the growing popularity reflects an increasing maturity on the part of IT organizations."
Organizations using capacity management processes reported the following benefits:
- Increased end user satisfaction
- Reduced impact on business due to outage
- Fewer resources used to firefight performance issues
