Analyst Update: Appointments, Awards, Dividends and Financial Results
U.S. stocks closed lower on Wednesday after Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen warned investors over elevated valuations of U.S stocks and associated potential risks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.48%, to close at 17,841.98, the S&P 500 fell 0.45%, to 2,080.15, and the NASDAQ Composite ended the session at 4,919.64, down 0.40%. Reflecting Janet Yellen's statement, European stocks saw only a modest gain on Wednesday. Germany's DAX 30 gained 0.20%, France's CAC 40 rose 0.15%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed only 0.09% higher on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Asian markets faltered again on Wednesday, depressed by weak earnings in Australia and disappointing U.S. economic data. The Shanghai Composite, Australia's S&P ASX and South Korea's KOSPI all closed lower on Wednesday.
On May 4, 2015, Chesapeake Energy Corporation announced the appointment of Frank Patterson. Frank will be joining the Company as Executive Vice President - Exploration, Land and Subsurface Technology. Mr. Patterson will be replacing Mr. John Kapchinske, who recently retired from Chesapeake.
On April 30, 2015, Vale S.A. reported its operational and financial results for the first quarter of 2015. The Company's reported iron ore production of 74.5 Mt for the quarter, the highest quarter output in Vale's history. Carajás production reached 27.5 Mt, nickel production was 69,200 tons, while copper and gold output were 107,200 tons and 103,000 oz. respectively, all of which were production records for Vale.
At the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), the world's largest event dedicated to the area of offshore oil exploration and production, held on May 3, 2015, Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras S.A. won the OTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organizations and Institutions, which is the highest recognition that an oil company can be given as an offshore operator.
On April 30, 2015, Alcoa Inc., reported that the Company's Board of Directors have declared a quarterly common stock dividend of 3 cents per share payable May 25, 2015 to holders of record of the common stock at the close of business on May 11, 2015.
SandRidge Energy, Inc. had participated in the IPAA OGIS Conference held on April 20, 2015. According to the presentation made by the Company, for 2015, it expects a capex of $700 million and approximately 6% organic production growth.
