Business Imaging Systems Unveils Industry's First Mobile Client for ApplicationXtender
MAX Combines Content Management Power with Mobile Device Convenience
LAS VEGAS, May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC WORLD – Business Imaging Systems, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-wide information management solutions, today introduced MAX, the industry's first mobile client for EMC® ApplicationXtender®. By extending the world-leading transactional content management capabilities of ApplicationXtender to Apple® iOS and Android™ mobile devices, MAX untethers users from the PC-based environment in which their ApplicationXtender system is currently being utilized. MAX provides users the freedom to access and interact with their ApplicationXtender document repository on-the-go, and the ability to capture new documents using their mobile device and upload them into the repository.
"Every so often, a new technology literally changes the way people live or work. Smartphones are one example because they gave us the freedom to get up and go about our day without ever missing an e-mail," said David Annis, vice president and chief technology officer of Business Imaging Systems. "This is what MAX does. With MAX, ApplicationXtender users can get up and go about their day – carrying access to their entire electronic file room in the palm of their hand. MAX enables workers to be more productive and make decisions away from their desk."
MAX combines content management power with mobile device convenience. Documents stored in the ApplicationXtender repository can be searched, retrieved, viewed and shared through the MAX mobile client. Paper documents can be captured using a mobile device's on-board camera, then indexed and immediately uploaded into ApplicationXtender – initiating workflows and enabling real-time document collaboration in the field. MAX also provides the ability to upload any e-mail attachment received on a mobile device directly into the ApplicationXtender repository, and to send any ApplicationXtender document as an e-mail attachment.
The freedom of anytime-anywhere access to content management tools leads to increased efficiency, streamlined workflows and improved decision-making for users on-the-go. At the same time, MAX is secure. Its security protocols mirror those found in the ApplicationXtender desktop and web clients, including user login requirements and document-level access rights.
An evolutionary step in the future of content management, MAX is ideal for distributed organizations, mobile workforces, travelers, virtually anyone who works outside a traditional office environment. "Think medical records at a patient's bedside, plan files at a construction site, any document required in the field, on trains and in airports, documents needed on-the-go. We created MAX in the vision of 'content management unplugged' – providing access to ApplicationXtender-based information exactly where and when it's needed," said Annis.
