(Workday) announced that easyJet plc has selected Workday Human Capital Management (HCM). easyJet plans to enhance talent management practices and modernize reporting and analytics capabilities through Workday's unified application for human resources. According to the Company, Workday HCM will enable easyJet employees and managers, who are regularly traveling between countries and airports, to quickly update key personal data or access reports to help them be more productive. (Equinix) announced that Portware LLC (Portware) has selected Equinix's New York International Business Exchange data center to provide disaster recovery, capacity and scalability support for its leading trading platform. According to the Company, the New York data center deployment and a planned expansion into an Equinix data center in Chicago provides Portware with an enhanced disaster recovery strategy, capacity and scalability support for its customers, as well as the ability to expand into Europe and Asia. PPL Corporation Analyst Notes
On April 2, 2014, PPL Corporation (PPL) announced that it will manage Lake Wallenpaupack operations to accommodate spring fishing season on the Lackawaxen River, as a part of the Company's support of public recreation. According to the Company, PPL has a program that manages power generation from PPL's Lake Wallenpaupack hydroelectric plant from spring through September to help keep water temperature downstream of the plant, which is conducive a more beneficial habitat for wild trout as well as the trout stocked by the commission. Paul Canevari, PPL's Community Relations Director for the Pocono region, said, "For the safety of anglers and as part of our federal operating license, we will suspend generation on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays starting April 12, 2014 - the first day of trout season - through June 14, 2014, and also on Fridays during that period for the three hours before and one hour after sunset." DTE Energy Co. Analyst Notes
On April 8, 2014, DTE Energy Co. (DTE Energy) announced that Shenango Inc. has reached a consent agreement with the Allegheny County Health Department to complete a series of additional upgrades at the Neville Island coke battery that will enhance the control of emissions. The agreement will also help attain and maintain compliance with the county's environmental air quality standards. As per the Company, the cost for implementing the upgrades is $750,000, in addition to the $41 million in capital improvements already planned for the battery through 2018. Moreover, the battery also will spend $300,000 for a supplemental environmental project aimed at enhancing particulate collection from the quench tower. As stated, the settlement requires Shenango to pay a $300,000 fine to resolve alleged violations from 2012 through the effective date of the order. American Electric Power Co., Inc. Analyst Notes
On March 31, 2014, American Electric Power Co., Inc. (AEP) announced that The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved an application by Electric Transmission Texas, LLC (ETT), a JV between AEP and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, and Sharyland Utilities on March 27, 2014 to build a 345-kilovolt transmission line from a substation northwest of the city of Edinburg to a substation located east of the city of Brownsville. The cost of the project is estimated to be $309 million and is expected to be completed during the summer of 2016. PUCT commissioners approved construction of the 96-mile line that would extend from the existing AEP Texas Central Company North Edinburg Substation to the existing Brownsville Public Utilities Board Loma Alta Substation located near the Brownsville Ship Channel.
