Business Attorney Mary Edquist joins McDonald Hopkins law firm

CLEVELAND, Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mary I. Edquist has joined the Cleveland office of McDonald Hopkins as an associate in the firm's Business Department. Although she is not yet admitted in Ohio, she is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. and Colorado and has applied to the Ohio Supreme Court for admission to the Ohio Bar.

Edquist joins McDonald Hopkins from Jones Day's Washington, D.C. office. Previously, Edquist served as Deputy Public Defender in the Appellate Division of the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender, and she worked in the Hague as an attorney with the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.

Edquist's experience includes international transactions, with a particular focus on export control and compliance matters, national security issues, government disclosures, corporate investigations, and audits. She has handled numerous matters involving corporate compliance with U.S. international trade laws, government contractor obligations, customs regulations, SEC reporting obligations, and international sanctions regimes. In addition, Edquist has obtained approval for foreign acquisitions of domestic companies from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS).

Edquist received a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Cornell University, a J.D. from University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and a Master of Laws, with distinction, in National Security Law from Georgetown University.
