Burton Morris Donates Original Artwork For One Young World Summit
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- World-renowned artist and Pittsburgh native, Burton Morris, has donated original artwork for One Young World, a global forum for leaders in their 20s being hosted in his hometown October 18-22. The third annual One Young World summit, which has the largest representation of countries other than the Olympics and United Nations, will bring together nearly 1,500 delegates to discuss and debate major issues addressed daily by government, business and academic leaders around the world. The original Burton Morris piece artistically integrates the Pittsburgh skyline and a "green" globe, portraying the world meeting in the "city of bridges" to discuss solutions to systemic problems, and communicating the supportive backdrop Pittsburgh provides in terms of unity, connectivity and commitment to global change.

"This city offers young people endless opportunities to find inspiration, knowledge and energy, which is why I very much wanted to be a part of helping to introduce more of the world to Pittsburgh," said Morris. "While delegates will be coming from many countries and cultural backgrounds, art is something we can all understand, regardless of language."
The artwork will be used as a theme graphic for the summit and will be featured prominently on banners throughout the city and within the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, where the summit will be primarily held. The image is already being used in videos and on websites promoting the event, and is a cornerstone of the "Pittsburgh Welcomes One Young World" campaign – through which Pittsburgh residents, university students and the business community are familiarizing themselves with the summit and preparing to welcome the delegates.
"Pittsburgh is the birthplace of pop culture. Having Morris contribute an original piece that our community and delegates will see again and again is truly a reminder, long after the summit is over, that Pittsburgh has helped build connections, relationships and new understanding of the issues facing our world," said Sy Holzer, president, PNC Bank Pittsburgh and chairman of the One Young World Pittsburgh Partnership Executive Committee.
