KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- After surveying more than 109,000 Gen Xers and 88,000 Millennials, Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine have recognized Burns & McDonnell as one of the 20 Best Workplaces for Gen Xers and 100 Best Workplaces For Millennials in the country.
Burns & McDonnell ranked 18 on the Gen Xers list and 25 on the Millennials list. The rankings were derived from employees' responses to anonymous survey questions asking about the levels of trust, pride and camaraderie they experience in the workplace.
According to the Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, Gen Xers and Millennials are the two most dominate generations in the workforce in America. Millennials just surpassed Gen X in 2015 as being the largest labor force in the country. The survey shows 45 percent of employees at Burns & McDonnell are Millennials and nearly 41 percent are Gen Xers.

The 20 Best Workplaces for Gen Xers and 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials rankings are based entirely upon employees' own feedback and winners were selected from a database of some 620 Great Place to Work-Certified organizations. To determine the lists, Fortune asked Great Place to Work to survey more than 109,000 Gen Xers (born between 1965 and 1980), and 88,000 Millennials (born 1981 or later), who rated their organizations on 58 workplace quality questions. Employees considered advancement opportunities, generosity of benefits packages, genuineness of work-life balance support, connection with their colleagues, how transparent communications is and the ability to make a difference in their work, among many other factors. Anonymous responses resulted in a total score for each company, which was compared to the benchmark for organizations of that size.
