BOSTON, July 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Burns & Levinson today announced the launch of a new blog called CannaBusiness Advisory, which will provide insight on a wide range of business topics, from financing a cannabis operation and negotiating real estate hurdles, to navigating complex employment challenges and mitigating tax burdens. The blog's lead editors are Frank A. Segall and Scott Moskol, who chair the firm's Cannabis Business Advisory Group.
Burns' team has unrivaled experience in cannabis business formation, licensure, and legal and regulatory compliance; corporate structuring, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, fund formation, and debt and equity financing; real estate acquisitions and leasing; labor and employment issues; intellectual property protection; 280E taxation issues; and the burgeoning field of cannabis litigation. The blog will cover all of these topics, in addition to important news and regulatory updates.
"We have built a team of highly skilled attorneys who understand the constantly shifting maze of rules and regulations involving the cannabis industry," said Segall. "This blog will serve as a tool for these attorneys to provide cannabis growers, distributors, processors, and investors with the advice they need to succeed."
"Over the past four years, we have helped our clients overcome numerous challenges and achieve as many successes," added Moskol. "We're excited to share our breadth of knowledge with others wanting to get involved in the cannabis industry."
In addition to the launch of a new blog, Burns will be co-hosting the first annual comprehensive New England cannabis conference. The conference, "The Cannabis Industry: Growth Opportunities for Professionals, Operators and Investors," will take place on October 17, 2017 at the Hilton Boston Dedham Hotel. The event will bring together industry-leading companies, executives, investors and thought leaders representing the key business verticals within the legal cannabis industry.
Burns was the first major Boston corporate law firm to develop a cannabis business practice four years ago – initially started as a medical marijuana practice – and is considered among the top law firms in the country with expertise handling high-level corporate and financing deals in the cannabis market. Current projects include initiatives and capital raises to open cannabis operations in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, and the formation of large private equity funds to invest in new cannabis technologies.
