Burns & Levinson Adds Leading Cybersecurity Attorney Peter McLaughlin as a Partner

With seven years of in-house experience, McLaughlin focuses his practice on providing practical guidance to clients using his broad knowledge of U.S. and European privacy rules, particularly as these relate to new technologies and business models. For example, he has served as the former assistant general counsel for privacy & security and global privacy director of a Fortune 20 healthcare company, where he developed and orchestrated the firm's global privacy and data protection program.

In private practice, McLaughlin represents clients across industry sectors with respect to rules governing personal information; he counsels organizations with respect to IT transactions, the Internet of Things, novel data use and data sharing models, and security incidents; and he guides clients in responding to regulators such as the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and state attorneys general.
