The two-week program will cover upstream, midstream, and downstream contracts as well as key commercial, legal, and financial issues. Angyiembe's presentation, which will be given on June 19, is titled "West Africa: Oil and Gas Legislative Update on Nigeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, and Ghana."
"This is an exciting time to do business in West Africa. There are considerable oil and gas resources in the region that, if developed strategically, will play an important role in the vitality of the global energy industry," explained Angyiembe. "The key to unlocking that potential is to understand the specific issues driving the implementation and management of exploration and production initiatives. This presentation will provide insight on that front by giving attendees a legislative update and addressing critical policy trends you need to know for doing oil and gas business in Africa, including issues relating to corporate social responsibility."
As a native of Cameroon, Angyiembe is particularly passionate about oil and gas development in sub-Saharan Africa. He dedicates a significant portion of his time to developing this area of practice, in addition to other areas of international and domestic oil and gas law.
Internationally, he delivers counsel on a wide range of matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, U.S. trade embargoes, and export controls. Domestically, he advises clients on title issues related to producing properties in North and South Texas.
In addition to presentations by industry experts, the 2013 International Oil and Gas Development course includes an interactive workshop and hands-on session on the economics, valuation, and dispute resolution of oil and gas contracts. It is primarily aimed at legal advisors, project managers, contract administrators, and other professionals, both from government ministries and agencies as well as from national oil and gas companies, and other practitioners involved in the negotiation of international oil and gas contracts and implementation of development projects.
