Burleson LLP Hosts June 23 Luncheon Titled "Cost-Savings Opportunity: Contesting Property Tax Appraisals of Oil and Gas Interests"
HOUSTON, June 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP, a full-service corporate law firm with a focus on the oil and gas sector, will host a complimentary luncheon on June 23 as part of its ongoing Trends, Terms, and Lessons Learned series. The event, "Cost-Savings Opportunity: Contesting Property Tax Appraisals of Oil and Gas Interests," will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Houston. It will deliver key insights on evaluating and protesting ad valorem tax appraisals to cut costs in a low energy price environment.
Brandy Manning, a partner in Burleson's Midland location, will lead the session. She will cover best practices and effective strategies for:
- Navigating the process to effectively protest tax valuations of oil and gas interests
- Analyzing appraised value in light of Section 23.175 of the Tax Code
- Protecting the right to protest and preparing to contest proposed values
- Reducing proposed values and, thus, ad valorem taxes
