SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP, a full-service law firm devoted primarily to the oil and gas industry, will host a new seminar on Jan. 15 titled Emerging Trends in Texas Oil & Gas Regulation – What You Need to Know. Part of the firm's ongoing educational series, the event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Silo at Alamo Heights in San Antonio.
The complimentary seminar, which will include a networking and cocktail reception, will provide key insights on allocation wells in Texas, covering scenarios for use, underlying case law, calculation methods, and conceivable pitfalls.
It will also address how density and proration rules can impact oil and gas leases, highlighting new trends on the subject, common forms and drafting tips for partial termination clauses, application of proration rules to well acreage designations, and tips to capitalize on retained acreage opportunities and minimize development obligations.
"As domestic oil and gas production continues to increase, so do the regulatory concerns influencing responsible development of natural resources," said Michael Browning, a partner who will lead the event with Brandon Durrett, an associate.
"This session will deliver critical knowledge on two pressing topics – allocation wells and density and proration rules – that are impacting the producing regions in Texas. It will shed light on strategies companies can employ to maximize operating potential while maintaining compliance."
Browning is Board Certified in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has practiced oil, gas, and mineral law for more than a decade, focusing primarily on oil, gas, and mineral title examination.
He practices in Burleson's San Antonio and Midland locations, where he counsels clients on a wide range of oil, gas, and mineral title matters. His background includes rendering drilling, division order, leasehold, and acquisition title opinions for oil and gas producing properties throughout the state of Texas.
Durrett maintains a diverse oil and gas practice in the firm's San Antonio location, where he focuses on upstream transactional and regulatory work. He also handles a wide range of issues concerning the exploration, development, operation, sale, and leveraging of oil and gas properties.
Durrett represents clients before the Railroad Commission of Texas in a variety of regulatory matters and has a broad base of experience in all phases of the acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas assets. He negotiates and conducts upstream transactions involving leasing, pooling, joint development agreements, farmouts, operating agreements, seismic options, surface use agreements, and customized instruments to fit his clients' needs.
The seminar is part of the firm's Trends, Terms and Lessons Learned series, which is designed to encourage open discussion of significant issues impacting the energy industry and other sectors served by Burleson.
