DENVER, Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP, a full-service law firm devoted primarily to the oil and gas industry, will host a new seminar on Sept. 25 titled Emerging Issues and Developments in the Regulation of Oil and Gas Operations as part of its ongoing educational series. It will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Denver Athletic Club.
The complimentary event, which will include lunch, will cover recent updates to the ongoing debate of state versus local regulation of production and exploration, as well as developments in regulations involving flaring, the disclosure of fracture fluid, and the protection of the sage-grouse.
"Companies with interests in the Rockies are being confronted with a rapidly changing operating environment, which is further compounding the complexities involved in complying with local, state, and federal rules and regulations," said John Murray, partner-in-charge of Burleson's Denver location. "This seminar will advise attendees on the emerging trends and deliver real-world strategies for avoiding the legal pitfalls related to some of the top regulatory issues impacting oil and gas operations in the region."
Four Denver-based attorneys will be featured in the seminar and include:
- Laura Bowzer, an associate who handles a wide range of title issues for properties throughout the Rocky Mountain region as well as corporate formation and governance matters and filings with the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
- Kyle Davenport, a senior associate whose background includes representing individuals and companies in virtually every phase of the production and sale of oil and gas, including state and federal regulations.
- Joe Gilmore, a senior associate who focuses his practice on oil and gas title work. He is well versed in lease and surface use agreements and has a broad background in title research, having worked as an independent petroleum landman for properties in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
- Krista Tushar, a partner, who has practiced law for more than two decades, focusing on a variety of oil and gas disputes in several states, including Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah, as well as business litigation.
The event is part of the firm's Trends, Terms and Lessons Learned series, which is designed to encourage open discussion of significant issues impacting the energy industry and other sectors served by Burleson.
