NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP announced today the addition of two partners – Jeffrey Bridger and Scott Winstead – to its New Orleans location, fueling the firm's strategy to expand litigation services for offshore clients.
Bridger, who has practiced law for more than three decades, focuses primarily on maritime, energy, and casualty defense as well as maritime insurance coverage matters. Winstead is a seasoned litigator with a broad background in insurance defense, maritime law, interstate carrier defense, commercial litigation, and general civil litigation.
Mark Clark, partner in charge of New Orleans, said the additions of both Bridger and Winstead further broaden the comprehensive capabilities of the firm's Offshore, Energy, and Marine Group.
"Since opening the New Orleans location last year, we have remained focused on delivering the resources, expertise, and services oil and gas clients need to manage the legal requirements of operating in both onshore and offshore environments," explained Clark. "Jeff and Scott's knowledge of maritime and insurance matters, combined with their extensive backgrounds in trial and appellate law, naturally complements that strategy. They are a great fit for our firm and will be incredible assets to our clients."
Burleson opened its New Orleans office in October 2014, extending the firm's reach across the Gulf Coast and broadening its capabilities in the offshore environment.
"Burleson is uniquely positioned to offer clients a level of knowledge and service you just can't find at a lot of law firms," said Bridger. "They have the agility to move with the energy sector – and go wherever the industry has a presence – backed by the ability to deliver the diverse range of legal capabilities oil and gas companies demand."
Winstead agreed and added, "Burleson understands the issues influencing the success of the oil and gas industry, and they know what it takes to provide practical counsel on virtually every issue touching the sector – from the most routine to the most complex. I'm proud to join the firm and am looking forward to playing a part in its ongoing growth strategy."
Bridger has extensive experience counseling clients in all phases of claims, from pre-litigation to trial court to appeals. He handles issues involving the Jones Act, collisions and allisions, wreck removal, and other matters related to maritime and energy law. He also counsels clients in insurance coverage disputes as well as defense of employment discrimination and harassment.
Early in his career, Bridger gained extensive trial and appellate experience working as an assistant district attorney for New Orleans. He is licensed to practice in both Louisiana and Texas.
Winstead, who has practiced law for nearly 15 years, represents a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies and international insurers. His background includes defense counsel in matters involving construction-related torts, offshore personal injury, products liability, motor carrier defense, and workers' compensation. He is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Alabama.
