Burleson LLP Attorneys To Provide Key Insights On Mexico Energy Reform At December Symposium In Mexico City
Burleson and Urban Land Institute - Mexico Council to co-host event
HOUSTON, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- San Antonio partner Armando Sanudo-Trueba and Denver partner Ken Witt will speak at the Mexico Energy Reform Symposium hosted by the firm and the Urban Land Institute – Mexico Council. The event will be held on Dec. 2 and 3 at the JW Marriott Polanco in Mexico City.
Sanudo-Trueba, who co-chairs Burleson's Latin American Practice Group, will participate as a panelist in a session titled Overview of Mexico Energy Reforms. The talk will highlight a range of matters – from the types of contracts available to foreign companies to security in investments and operations – facing businesses as power is shifted away from Mexico's state-run energy company, PEMEX.
Witt, an experienced corporate and securities attorney, will moderate a panel discussion titled Opportunities for U.S. Service and Exploration and Production Companies. The session will give attendees a primer on the business of oil and gas in the United States, provide an overview of opportunities in Mexico, and identify U.S. service and exploration and production companies that are well positioned to enter the Mexican market.
"Although many experts point to the second half of 2015 as when the first exploration public bid award is likely to occur, there are several questions now confronting companies who are interested in expanding their operations into Mexico," said Witt, who played an integral role in organizing the symposium. "This event will address several of those concerns and provide valuable insight on a number of issues important to companies looking to tap the potential of the region."
Sanudo-Trueba added that the symposium underscores the firm's commitment to keeping pace with – and staying a step ahead of – the issues influencing the U.S. energy market and abroad.
"Burleson established its Latin American Practice because the firm recognized the incredible opportunities Mexico energy reforms could bring to existing and prospective clients," explained Sañudo-Trueba. "This is a critical time for the region, and companies on both sides of the border want a firm with its finger on the pulse of the issues and the depth of knowledge they need to effectively manage their interests. Burleson is bringing that to the table, and this event reinforces our dedication to the Latin American energy sector."
Burleson's Latin American Practice delivers legal counsel to North American clients seeking to enter the Latin American market and to Latin American clients looking to expand and enhance their presence in the United States. Attorneys are bilingual, multicultural, and licensed to practice in various jurisdictions.
Although the group focuses on oil and gas law, it also counsels multinational clients on a wide range of matters related to IPOs and debt offerings, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, corporate law, commercial transactions, litigation, tax planning, and foreign investment assistance.
