Burleson Cooke Adds 4 Attorneys in San Antonio; Strengthens Litigation, Title Services to Companies in Eagle Ford
SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson Cooke today announced the addition of four attorneys to its San Antonio office, further broadening the scope of services and litigation capabilities the energy law firm provides companies with interests in the Eagle Ford Shale play.
With the new hires, Houston-based Burleson Cooke reinforced its reputation as the leading firm representing clients in all the major U.S. resource plays. There are now seven attorneys at its San Antonio location – which opened in late 2010 and now includes experienced litigators, Board Certified oil and gas lawyers, and attorneys with a strong background in oil and gas title matters.
"We have grown significantly in a short period of time, and I think that's a reflection of the importance of the Eagle Ford formation," said managing partner Rick Burleson. "Oil and gas companies with interests in South Texas are looking for law firms that can help them with a full range of legal concerns, and we are building this office to ensure we can meet whatever requirements our clients might have."
Thomas G. Ciarlone Jr., a litigator who is among the new additions, said that the San Antonio office is now well-positioned to deal with issues that oil and gas companies are likely to face in the Eagle Ford.
"Typically, there is a lot of litigation that arises from the kind of rapid and extraordinary growth that's related to the Eagle Ford," he explained. "Our attorneys here have the skills and knowledge necessary to resolve any dispute that could emerge among operators, producers, landowners and royalty owners, and lessors."
Ciarlone's background includes more than a decade in securities litigation, most recently as a partner with a prominent New York City-based firm specializing in complex class actions. He has handled commercial disputes for Fortune 500 and other large clients – experience Burleson said "translates well to the energy industry" – and will focus his practice on oil and gas related litigation and dispute resolution. Additionally, he will consult on oil and gas title opinions in all the major U.S. shale plays.
Also joining the firm are:
- Clint Hays, an oil and gas title attorney who is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Oil and Gas Mineral Law, and who has worked extensively throughout the Eagle Ford formation.
- Ryan Lammert and Kyle Allen, who will help handle the large amount of oil and gas title work required to keep up with the growing demands of companies in the Eagle Ford.
Burleson Cooke's San Antonio office is located at 1777 NE Loop 410, Suite 600.
The additions in San Antonio continue the growth of the firm, which since late 2009 has expanded significantly in and out of Texas to accommodate clients with a presence in the nation's shale plays.
The firm recently hired five new attorneys in its Pittsburgh office, which opened in late 2009 to serve clients in the Marcellus Shale region. It now has 22 lawyers in Pittsburgh, and has leased an additional 4,500 square feet of space in its current location. Beyond that, Burleson Cooke has just brought on six lawyers in Houston and moved into new offices in the downtown Pennzoil Building, virtually doubling its square footage.
