TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ - Tony Arrell, Chairman and CEO, and Burgundy's Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Robert Sankey, Executive Vice President and COO, will assume the position of CEO effective January 1, 2019. Mr. Arrell will continue to be active in the firm as Chairman and a large shareholder. This transition of roles is the culmination of a succession plan that began two years ago.
"Rob is very well suited for this role and I am confident he will do an excellent job. He is 43 years old and he has been with Burgundy for nearly 14 years. He has in-depth experience in investment research, which is the bedrock of the firm's activity, and he has a good deal of experience in management. Most importantly, in my view, Rob is of exemplary character and sound judgment. Nothing is more important at Burgundy, where client trust is paramount", said Mr. Arrell. "This appointment is a key component of Burgundy's succession plan. We intend to remain an independent global leader in the quality value investing profession. Rob is as committed as I am to having Burgundy remain independent."
"From the day I joined Burgundy in 2005 it has been my absolute privilege to have worked with such an exceptional group of people, and in a culture with such a deeply entrenched collective purpose of always doing the right thing for our clients," said Mr. Sankey. "I am so grateful for the confidence Tony and Burgundy's Board of Directors have placed in me with this appointment. I am excited to take on this new challenge and I could not be more confident in the Burgundy team to continue the tradition of investment excellence and fulfill our mission to clients."
