Bunker Hill Community College to Host Award-Winning Author Tim O'Brien
BOSTON, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In honor of Veterans Day, The Bunker Hill Community College Veterans Center will be presenting Vietnam veteran and award-winning author, Tim O'Brien, on Thursday, November 10 at 1 p.m. in Room C202. O'Brien, who visited BHCC last year, is the author of eight books, most notably, The Things They Carried, listed by the New York Times as among the 20 best books of the last 25 years. O'Brien is known for his compelling portrayals of the Vietnam War and its impact on American servicemen and women engaged in that conflict.
O'Brien has been honored by the American Academy of Arts and Letters for his distinguished body of work. His short fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, and Esquire as well as in several editions of the O. Henry Prize Stories and The Best American Short Stories.
