Bunker Hill Community College Magazine Wins Two Gold Communications Awards

BOSTON, Nov. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bunker Hill Community College received two top awards from District One of the National Council for Marketing and Publications (NCMPR) at the organization's conference in Baltimore, November 13 to 15, BHCC President Mary L. Fifield announced today. NCMPR sets the standards for professionals working in the areas of communications, marketing, fundraising and alumni relations at two-year colleges nationwide.

Both awards went to the College's magazine. BHCC Magazine earned a Gold Award for overall excellence in a stiff competition in which the judges also gave out two silver and two bronze prizes. The College magazine also took the top prize – another Gold Award – in the Original Photography category for an imaginative photo celebrating a culinary arts' professor's award-winning thesis on food in the works of Shakespeare.

BHCC Magazine was launched five years ago and has garnered national and regional awards from NCMPR, as well as from organizations such as the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the University & College Designers Association (UCDA), in which it competes with four-year institutions.

Bunker Hill Community College is the largest community college in Massachusetts. The College enrolls approximately 13,000 students on two campuses and at four satellite locations. BHCC is one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in Massachusetts. Six in ten students are people of color and more than half of BHCC's students are women. The College also enrolls 784 international students who come from more than 90 countries and speak 75 different languages.
