Bunker Hill Community College Launches New Assisted Living Management Program
BOSTON, Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- BHCC's Division of Professional Studies now offers a program designed to meet the needs of the growing field of Assisted Living. The program is an option titled "Management of Assisted Living and Institutional Facilities," within the Associate in Science Degree: Hotel Restaurant Program. The A.S. degree is granted after completing a total of 65 credits.
The Assisted Living and Institutional Facilities Option will combine the specialized skills needed to successfully manage an Assisted Living Facility with the guest centered focus of the College's successful Hotel/Restaurant Management program. The first courses will be offered in the Spring 2012 semester, which begins January 23rd. Classes will start on Monday, January 23rd for Social Aspects of Aging (PSY141-01C) and on Tuesday, January 24th for Managing and Marketing Assisted Living Facilities (HRT223-01C).
Assisted Living Facilities are one of the fastest growing areas of both the health care and hospitality industries. Well-known names in the hospitality industry, such as Marriott and Hyatt, have entered the marketplace with divisions devoted to the management of Continuing Care Communities. This new concept in senior housing combines the independence of private space with the support services of a skilled nursing facility and the amenities of a first class hotel.
