Bunker Hill Community College Dean McCorry Authors Fourth Textbook
BOSTON, Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bunker Hill Community College Dean of Science, Engineering and Health Programs Laurie Kelly McCorry, Ph.D., has published Communication Skills for the Healthcare Professional. The book, McCorry's fourth, is a comprehensive textbook providing healthcare professionals with the non-medical skills needed for success. The publisher, Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, invited McCorry with her extensive healthcare expertise to write the book with co-author Jeff Mason, whose field is language and communications.
"Our advisory boards and employer partners at the College believe that the soft skills, the people skills including communication, are essential for everyone in healthcare," said McCorry, explaining why she took on the project. McCorry joined the College three years ago as Associate Dean of Allied Health and was promoted this month to Dean of Science, Engineering and Health Programs. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University.
McCorry's previous books are two editions of Essentials of Human Physiology for Pharmacy and Physiology Case Studies in Pharmacy. Prior to joining the College, McCorry taught for two years at Bay State College and for 16 years at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
