Bunker Hill Community College Appoints New Library Director
BOSTON, June 4, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) has appointed Dr. Vivica Pierre as Director of the Library & Learning Commons, BHCC President Mary L. Fifield announced today. Dr. Pierre earned her Doctorate of Educational Leadership, Research and Counseling from Louisiana State University. She also has a Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Sciences from Louisiana State University, a Master of Laws degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics from Spelman College. She joined the BHCC staff on June 1, 2012.
Dr. Pierre has served as Director of Records and Information Management and Reference Librarian for Archives and Special Collections at the University of Louisiana. She has also worked as Associate Director of Distance Learning at Clark Atlanta University.
Her teaching experience includes serving as: Associate Professor in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Health Information and Notary at South Louisiana Community College; Assistant Professor in the College of Business Administration at California State University; and an Adjunct Professor in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Administration at Georgia State University.
The BHCC Library & Learning Commons delivers services crucial for student success, including information literacy instruction and quality resource selection. The library also offers more than 22,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks. The 74,000 items in the physical collection include books, audio visual materials, magazines, newspapers and journals.
