Bulu Box Leverages Data to Help Revolutionary Sustainable Protein Company
LINCOLN, Neb., Jan. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bulu Box announces a data partnership with cricket protein maker BugEater Labs, further positioning the company as more than just a subscription sample box.
BugEater Labs is the brainchild of four University of Nebraska-Lincoln students, originally concepted as an entry into the 2014 Thought For Food challenge, a movement dedicated to tackling the global challenge of food security through innovation and entrepreneurship. The initial success of winning the $1,000 prize at a University of Nebraska-Lincoln pitch competition for their Jump! Cricket Protein Meal Replacement motivated the team to explore the development of an entire brand and product line focused around a sustainable model of food development – namely, insect-based protein products.
"Turning to the team at Bulu Box for guidance in building our products was crucial," said BugEaterLabs CEO Kelly Sturek. "Not only do we get the benefits of working with fellow Lincoln-based entrepreneurs to build our company, we also get the benefits of Bulu Box's knowledge and data in the vitamin and supplement industry to help shape our products and brand for consumers."
Bulu Box delivers a modern twist on healthy living to all 50 U.S. states via monthly subscription boxes that allow subscribers to sample premium vitamin, nutrition and weight loss products. Founded in 2012 by Paul Jarrett and Stephanie Jarrett, Bulu Box helps customers realize their healthy living and weight loss goals through data-driven sampling and ecommerce technology that focuses on the personal experience of each potential user.
Bulu Box will use customer survey data amassed from distributing over a million samples to help BugEater Labs introduce their products to the market. Bulu Box will also continue to advise BugEater Labs to help the fledgling company strategically on multiple fronts.
