Buildots upgrades Dot, turning its AI assistant into an on-demand construction analyst for project teams
- Buildots' AI assistant for construction teams now performs tasks, produces deeper project insights, and provides 24/7 support
- The new generative AI features for construction project teams are now available globally at no additional cost to Buildots customers
CHICAGO, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Buildots, the global construction intelligence platform, today announced a major update to Dot, its AI assistant for construction teams. The new features move Dot beyond simply answering questions about a user's projects and into taking on real work. Users can now assign Dot a Task from a library of preconfigured construction management tasks, such as investigating a forecasted delay, verifying a trade's claim, or comparing how an activity is performing across different locations on their site. Dot then performs the in-depth analyses and reports back. When users ask Dot questions about a project, they will now get even deeper, project manager-level analysis, with in-chat charts and graphs to provide additional context.
Dot first launched two years ago as the construction industry's first dedicated generative AI assistant, providing teams with a new way to access their project data through conversational interfaces on mobile, tablet, and desktop. Since then, Buildots has steadily expanded its generative AI capabilities, adding faster responses, delay-forecast handling, and visual search. Today's launch represents Dot's largest evolution yet.
What's new in Dot:
- Preconfigured tasks. Dot can now perform fast, preconfigured tasks like investigating a forecasted delay, verifying a trade partner's claim against the data, and examining how an activity is performing across a project, with additional tasks in development.
- Combined insights. By parsing all underlying datasets, not just documents and final reports, Dot can surface relationships, anomalies, trends, and patterns in your project data that may not be visible on any single report. For example, suggesting where your electrical trade should focus over the next two weeks based on current site conditions.
- In-chat charts and graphics. Dot can now respond with more than just text – it can provide graphics, such as charts and progress-over-time graphs, directly in its chat window responses.
- Deeper context and suggested next steps. Every report Dot generates includes a "why this matters" section, translating raw data points into context and suggested next steps.
- Iterative, shareable reports. Users can refine custom reports through conversation and share the output with others via PDF.
- "Glass box" transparency. Users can ask Dot to explain the logic behind any metric. For instance, requesting a step-by-step breakdown of how a forecasted delay was calculated, including the assumptions behind it.
- Always-on platform support. If users want to learn how to use a new Buildots feature or get stuck on how to do something in the platform, Dot provides 24/7 support.
"Buildots users already have what most of the construction industry is missing: accurate, objective data on what's happening on site," said Roy Danon, co-founder and CEO of Buildots. "As that data grows, the challenge shifts to analysis. Dot now takes on more of that work, from investigating forecasted delays and verifying trade claims to analyzing an activity's performance across a site, giving operational leaders instant answers from their project data, so they can focus their time on decisions and action."
The new version of Dot is now available to Buildots customers globally at no additional cost.
