Buffalo Demonstrates 802.11ac Technology at CES
Next Generation Wireless Technology Offers Greatly Enhanced Speed and Reliability
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CES – Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking and network and direct attached storage solutions, today will demonstrate 802.11ac technology on the show floor at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, using hardware based on the future AirStation™ WZR-1750H wireless router. Operating in the 5 GHz space, the next generation wireless technology showcased at Buffalo's booth (#26122 in the South Hall of the LVCC) boasts unmatched wireless speeds of 1300 Mbps, approximately three times faster than 802.11n. Accompanying the 802.11ac technology within AirStation WZR-1750H is a class leading 2.4 GHz 3x3 802.11n radio; combined, they provide complete backward compatibility with 802.11a, 11b, 11g and 11n, in addition to offering 2.4 GHz transmission speeds up to 450 Mbps and exceptional coverage. The WZR-1750H provides consumers with total aggregate wireless throughput of 1750 Mbps.
The explosion of digital content creation, distribution and consumption and the seemingly endless proliferation of mobile and connected devices have generated an all-time high demand for reliable, high-performance wireless networks. Buffalo's AirStation WZR-1750H creates a sanctuary of wireless connectivity, providing a dependable, high quality signal for simple syncing between mobile devices, data-heavy streaming of HD movies from online services and everything in between. The high throughput rates and 5 GHz operation of this new technology frees consumers from the conventional networking restrictions of wired Ethernet cables, wireless network bottlenecks and other radio activity. 802.11ac offers wireless gigabit speeds with interference-free connectivity, setting new standards for speed, range and reliability.
"Buffalo has always been at the forefront of wireless technology, proven by the delivery of the first Draft G and Draft N wireless products to the market," said Hajime Nakai, chief executive officer at Buffalo Technology (USA), Inc. "Delivering a cost-effective, high performance Wi-Fi solution that leverages the next generation 802.11ac technology is just part of Buffalo's ongoing commitment to innovation, engineering excellence and enabling consumers to use current and future technology in the home and in the cloud."
With five gigabit Ethernet ports and combined wireless PHY throughput up to 1750 Mbps, Buffalo's new router upgrades any existing wireless connection and provides greater coverage above and beyond traditional 802.11n. By combining the 1.3 Gbps 802.11ac 5 GHz technology with the existing 450 Mbps 802.11n 2.4 GHz solution, Buffalo provides consumers a no-compromise, future proofed wireless infrastructure for their digital world.
In conjunction with the WZR-1750H, Buffalo plans to launch the WLI-TX4-1300H, an 802.11ac media bridge that allows any Ethernet device to connect to an 802.11ac network. WLI-TX4-1300H is equipped with four gigabit Ethernet ports, and is perfectly suited for connecting PCs, media streaming devices, gaming consoles, TVs and other entertainment devices to high performance 1300 Mbps 802.11ac networks.
Availability
Buffalo wireless solutions are all backed by a limited three-year warranty that includes toll-free U.S.-based technical support available 24/7. The WZR-1750H and media bridge will be available in the second half of 2012.
