BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Buffalo Computer Graphics (BCG) has developed a custom desktop application for Cheektowaga, NY-based online retailer Christmas Central to optimize its daily warehouse operations. The new database driven system automates the process of receiving, sorting, tagging and picking online orders while integrating with UPS shipping and a third party inventory tracker.

As a major online retailer of Christmas decorations and home decor, Christmas Central required a more efficient mechanism to process and ship large quantities of orders. Taking into account their shipping needs and the layout of their warehouses, BCG developed an application specific to Christmas Central's requirements, capable of ingesting CSV files containing thousands of orders from Christmas Central's storefront provider. The application is then able to sort and quickly distribute orders to the appropriate staff members for packaging. As a result, Christmas Central saves time and cost by ensuring that the minimum number of warehouses are involved in fulfilling an order and that items are grouped into the fewest possible shipments.
As part of an ongoing partnership with Christmas Central, BCG will continue to make modifications based upon their changing needs. Most recently, BCG has added additional integration capabilities with third party software including an inventory tracker and UPS shipping, more warehouse reduction logic and new summary reports. Nathan Gordon, Christmas Central's CIO added, "The biggest issue we ever had was that no out-of-the-box solution would work for us, but this new system is doing everything we asked and need."
The project is one of many custom engineering products designed by BCG for clients looking to expand their business capabilities. BCG provides custom software, hardware, GIS and web development solutions as one of its four primary business areas. Other notable clients have included the US Coast Guard, the US Navy, Xerox Corporation and more. Parties interested in custom engineering solutions may contact BCG directly.
