Bucknell University Announces 2015 Alumni Awards
LEWISBURG, Pa., June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 30th, Bucknell University Alumni Association (BUAA) honored five distinguished alumni in four categories; Outstanding Achievement in a Chosen Profession, Loyalty to Bucknell, Service to Humanity and Young Alumni (15 years out or less). These graduates join 211 other Bucknellians that have stayed connected to the University, contribute to the communities around them, and have pursued successful careers.
Richard C. Skelton '60 was recognized with The Loyalty to Bucknell Award for his 36 years in Bucknell admissions, retiring as assistant vice president for enrollment planning in 2000. Ronald S. Baron '65 and Charles H. Brandes '65 were recognized with the Outstanding Achievement in a Chosen Profession Award. Baron is the founder, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Baron Capital Management, a New York City investment management firm that manages more than $28 billion. Brandes is the founder of Brandes Investment Partners where he currently serves as chairman of the firm's five-member executive committee and as a member of its Investment Oversight Committee. Jacqueline Hornor Plumez '65 received the Service to Humanity Award. Plumez is a psychologist, career counselor, speaker and journalist/writer. She is a founding member of Anglican Women's Empowerment, an organization that brings women from around the world to the United Nations to learn how to lobby for social change in their home countries. Gbenga T. Akinnagbe '00 was awarded with the Young Alumni Award. Akinnagbe is an actor, screenplay writer and producer. His acting credits include TV roles on The Wire, The Good Wife and 24, as well as film roles in The Savages, The Taking of Pelham 123 and The Edge of Darkness. He recently launched Liberated People, a socially conscious lifestyle brand which works with nonprofits worldwide.

The mission of the Bucknell University Alumni Association (BUAA) is to represent alumni, engage Bucknellians, and promote and enhance Bucknell University.
