BTVH Announces New Partnership with Coalition for Medicare Choices to Empower Seniors Nationwide to Engage in the 2016 Elections
BTVH-CMC partnership emphasizes need to ensure older Americans have the tools and resources needed to get out and vote
WASHINGTON, March 31, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bring the Vote Home – a national initiative designed to empower both seniors and disabled Americans to engage fully in America's electoral process while simultaneously collecting senior opinions on a wide range of issues – today announced a new partnership with the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) to enable more seniors nationwide to vote and take part in the electoral process this election year. CMC is a national grassroots organization of two million people who receive their health care coverage through a Medicare Advantage health plan and are united in supporting high quality health plan choices in Medicare.
America's senior citizens play a powerful role in the electoral process. Bring The Vote Home (BTVH) is dedicated to empowering all American seniors to fully participate in our nation's democratic process via information distribution, voter registration, and absentee ballots. BTVH also conducts monthly real-time surveys of thousands of registered voter seniors to gather data on what seniors think about the 2016 campaign and other critical issues facing the country.
"We are proud to partner with the Coalition for Medicare Choices to share our resources with more seniors across the country to ensure they have the tools they need to take part in what will be a historic election cycle," said Keith Myers, Chairman of the Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare. "By participating in the democratic process and advocacy initiatives, seniors can voice their concerns on issues most directly impacting older Americans, particularly those related to accessing the healthcare coverage and settings of their choice."
In a recent BTVH poll of registered senior voters, 90 percent of respondents reporting being "totally satisfied" with their Medicare Advantage plan, underscoring the importance of protecting patient options for accessing high quality, affordable healthcare coverage. BTVH data also show that senior voters are more likely to support candidates who support policies to protect the Medicare program and seniors' healthcare benefits.
"It is very important that we vote and get other seniors and disadvantaged people to get out and vote," added Coalition for Medicare Choices member Lawrence Williams.
